Thought I’d change-up the tune a bit on the blog today, switch things around and present you with some sweet, sweet music.
The photo is of a great guy called DJ AM and he’s one of the most awesome DJs I’ve ever seen. You see I enjoy normal mixes like the rest of you, I mean I’ve got the whole Global Underground collection gathering digital dust on some discarded hard drive which I take out now and then. But this guy, he’s different. He’s like that old school breed of DJs that didn’t just mix house and all that meaningless crap. This guy, he mixes music. If I were to post a track list here for one of his mixes you’d really have to scroll a bit…
And his style is just so clean, so sharp… The transitions are smooth, never forced, nice long crossovers and artful scratches combined with a superb choice of genre (and just the emotional journey is never rough like many DJs these days make it – all the songs go well together). But I’m rambling on too much. As for how I found out about him, Chris Weeks is to blame.
Seriously, read his article about DJ AM. And now I just share with you the kid’s favourite sets, his “Elton” set. (well I could only find 4/5 cause cweeks pulled the link) Hope you like them as much as I do. My favourite is the third.
DJ AM – Elton 1
DJ AM – Elton 2
DJ AM – Elton 3
DJ AM – Elton 4
Rest in peace DJ AM, you’ve left your mark on the world and for that we thank you…
